Happy Birthday and visit from friends

Well, we had a great weekend celebrating Ben's birthday with our friends Lars and Nicki, who came to see us for a short, fun visit. They brought along their youngest of two daughters, Brooke, who is 6 days younger than Jacy. Daxton thought it was cool to have 2 babies around the house. He made the comment while we were in the car, "Wow! Look at all the babies!" We were glad that Lars and Nicki were here to help us celebrate and to help us eat all of the food! Ben's favorite thing in the world (next to me of course) is food! Soooo, on his birthday, we go all out! On Friday night when Lars and Nicki were here, we had hambugers with all his favorite fixin's (guacamole, bacon, cheese, tomato, lettuce, etc.), and sweet corn. Afterwards we had the cake (made by me, of course). This year's cake was a repeat of last year's cake because it was so darn good! It has two layers of chocolate cake, and two layers of mint chip ice cream, frosted with cool whip, and garnished with vanilla and chocolate frosting. YUM! SOOO GOOD, if I do say so myself! Oh, and we serve it with fudge covered mint oreos too.....that makes it complete! On Saturday morning, we had Fresno French toast, which is a mission recipe, and it's really tasty, and I'm considering adding a link with all my recipes on it at some point in the near future, so that will be on it for sure if you're wondering what it entails. Anyway, for lunch it was BLTs, and for dinner, pizza! On Sunday, which was Ben's actual birthday, we had Ben's FAVORITE dinner........breakfast. Complete with waffles, hash browns, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, sausage patties, orange juice. Wow. Honestly, I feel a little fat just remembering all of this food. Well, anyway, sorry for the rambling. It was a great weekend! What could be better than a combination of good friends and good food?

LOL! So much food! Sounds delicious. I'm hungry just reading about it. I can't believe you eat all that and still stay SO skinny. I'm jealous. And I'm seriously so impressed you made that cake. It looks amazing. Wow. I can't cook to save my life. It's so sad. I'd love for you to post recipes. I'm in desparate need of some good food, but if they're involved like your cake, forget it. I'll just have admire from afar.

Sounds like a fun weekend! I hope you bring your yummy cooking skills to the reunion. You are too good to Ben. He should feel especially spoiled after growing up with not many real meals. He sure lucked out. Props on the cake!! You should seriously start a baking business, I would be happy to be your taste tester. Oh, and could your kids be any cuter?

Your cake looks good enough to bring it home on the airplane like Kent and Celeste did for Liz. I'm a chocaholic too. Maga
