Adjustments, Life, and Hogle Lovin'

February has been an interesting month for us. I have been preoccupied with life, as evidenced by yet another blogging hiatus. It has been an adjustment getting used to Ben being away so often. It is wonderful to see him loving his career so much, and I have no doubt that if the economy holds up, it will be a very fulfilling way for him to provide for us. The great debate for us at this point in time is whether or not the kids and I should find a way out to Detroit to live there with Ben so as to cut down on the commuting time, or if we should stay near to family where we gain the benefit of more relationships and interactions to help out and serve as a welcome distraction while Ben is gone. The verdict is up in the air at this point (ha ha, no pun intended, but that worked out quite well, didn't it?). Much of it, we suppose, will depend on whether or not the house we are living in right now sells. There have been a few offers on the house, but they have been so low it's almost an insult. Sometimes I wonder about people, and how they think they can get away with such blatant stupidity.
At the beginning of the month, I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks. I am mentioning this not to get sympathy, but only to offer my sincerest sympathies to any and every woman who has ever been burdened with the process of trying to conceive, as well as conceiving and then losing a pregnancy, or even just conceiving and then experiencing the relentless worry that accompanies a pregnancy from the moment after the initial "rush of joy" fades after reading a positive sign on the pee stick. It's such a mixed bag. God grant that every woman may experience the joy of childbirth, and God bless every woman that she may survive it. So, I think I've recovered now, and we're ready to move on.
On a lighter note, Ben was home for a few days, and with the "warmer" weather, we decided to visit Hogle Zoo. I was surprised to see all of the changes they have made there to improve the place. Four stars for sure! I only wish it was a little bit closer to us, because my kids fall asleep in the car to and from, and then they won't nap, and well, we live and die by our naps around here.
Anyway, here's to a good March with much anticipated warmer weather and daylight savings time, and green pancakes and pinches!

Glad that Ben is enjoying his job so much. I am excited to hear how everything goes for you all as you make a choice on where to live. I laughed at your comments on the offers on the house, people are crazy sometimes! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I love you guys and I love your blog. Give your cute kids a hug from me.

Good luck with the big decisions. I'm so sorry about your miscarriage. I experienced one right before Anna and was shocked at what a sense of loss I felt - after all it had only been a couple of weeks right? Good luck with everything!

I vote for you staying in Utah...selfish reasons only. I would struggle if my husband was gone as much as yours is. It's a hard decision. You know we are always up for lunch or an outing. We are so ready for warm weather and we can play outside!!

Wow, you have a lot on your plate. I'm sorry to hear abour your miscarriage. I can't imagine how hard it would be to have my husband gone for long periods of time, so I vote for whatever is easiest and makes your little crew happiest. I'm glad Ben's loving his job so much.

Much love to all of you. We'll keep you in our prayers.

Benifer,Your blog was Most informative to the "old man". Love you for sharing your experience. Such is mortality. A matter of some urgency: A debriefing of my favorite professional Airline Pilot! I'm waiting for an appointment. Papa

Jenny, I am so sorry about your miscarriage. I know it was good that it was early if it had to happen, but I don't think that makes it feel any better or relieves the disappointment at all. It seems like everyone is having miscarriages lately. Horrible. On a better note, the zoo looked fun! I LOVE the zoo. If you do go to Detroit, you'll have to go to the Toledo Zoo. It is seriously amazing! They have the best Polar Bear and Hippo exhibiits. I went with Erin last summer while I was visiting, and it was seriously so fun. Good luck with all your decisions though. I haven't even gotten to see you since you've been here, but rest assured I'll still miss you if you move. :)

I am amazed everytime I read your blog and what you go through. And I can't believe how many people are having difficulties with pregnancy-either getting pregnant or staying pregnant. I feel for anyone going through that and am sorry to hear you had to. Good luck with the decision of where to live. I hope whatever you choose brings you happiness!!!

My offer still stands by the way. If you ever need a change of scenery come on up to our house. My kids love when people come to play. And I love it too, because my kids actually play with their toys when other kids are around!

Jenny--It looks like your decision was made for you. Wish we could help you---all we can do is pray for you. When I had my miscarriages the doctor said it was for the best as often there is a problem with the baby.

Its fun to see pictures of your kids at all our fave places in Utah. When I was pregnant with the twins we hit Hogle Zoo and Jungle Gym's at least once a week. In fact we were at the Zoo the day the twins were born.
We had a great visit here in San Diego from Kent and Celeste. She told me of course all about her favorite grand kids, but also about your miscarriage. I am so sorry to hear about that. I haven't been there, but I know several who have really suffered through that. I wish you all the peace and healing in the world. You are a GREAT mom!!
